Principal Message

Over the past month, the teachers have been engaged in the extensive process of writing your child’s half-yearly report. Throughout this process, the teachers review the data they have gathered about your child throughout the first semester to form an overall picture of their progress in their current year. As teachers, we observe, interact and analyse your child’s performance, and an overall grade will be given for each learning area. Having read through each of these reports and knowing about the progress students have made since the beginning of this year, there is a great deal to celebrate. Thank you to the teachers for preparing these reports. Semester 1 student reports for Years 1 to Year 6 will be sent home to parents/carers tomorrow, Friday 28 June.

As we reflect on Term Two, there have been many achievements and celebrations, as the community of St Francis of Assisi, Warrawong. Students have had opportunities to participate in ANZAC Day and National Sorry Day liturgies, NAPLAN, Book Fair, Stage One and Stage Three excursions, School Photos, Year Three and Year Four Celebration of Learning, whole school Masses and of course so many other opportunities in the classrooms. Our students have benefited from sporting opportunities, including tennis, cross country and netball gala day. A few weeks ago, we had our school Athletics Carnival, which was a great day. Thankyou to Mrs Briscoe and Mr Murphy, who organised the carnival, the staff for their commitment to ensuring that the day ran smoothly and the parents who volunteered on the day. It takes all of us working together for these days to be successful.

We have had community opportunities at a Mothers' Day breakfast, parent and teacher conferences, Parents and Friends Meetings, reading support and parent helpers in the classrooms. We also welcomed new families into our school community, new babies into families and I have had the pleasure of undertaking a number of enrolment interviews in preparation for Kindergarten 2020. Wow! All in one term!

I hope your week ahead and the holiday period is a special time with your family.
Thank you for all your support this term.
Wishing you all a safe and restful school holiday break.
Please remember the families of our school community who need special prayers.
