Dear Parents and Carers

Last Wednesday, we came together to mark the commencement of the season of Lent. Lent is a time of preparation for Easter when we relive the mystery of the Risen Christ and the light of hope it sheds on our whole existence.
When we speak to the students about Lent, we discuss the three ways we can turn our attention to God in our lives – through prayer, through 'fasting' or living in a way that is 'simple' and through giving to those in need.
We will ask the students to consider their involvement in this time of Lent. As parents, teachers, family and friends, we face the same considerations. Are there ways we can dedicate ourselves to this Lenten opportunity? Something we may find challenging is to reach out to those we sometimes lose sight of and to be of service to others. It can mean a great deal when we stop for a few minutes to chat with someone; simply sharing your time is a great act of service. Finally, lent is our opportunity to show the God in us, to be models of grace and allow others to feel God's embrace through our actions. During this Lenten season, how will you show God in you?
As we continue to support, work and be with each other, let us remember that we are praying with each other.

Jesus, may we be encouraged this Lent to reflect on the difficulties You had in Your life. Give us the same courage to face the challenges that daily enter our lives.
Lead us to the joy of resurrection. Amen."
