On Wednesday 24 May at 11.00 am our school participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime.  Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centers, family homes, bookshops, and many other places around the country.  2023's chosen book was The Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie; a story about a sloth that loves to run around FAST! He goes on an adventure in the rainforest, challenging other animals to a race. He learns some important lessons along the way. Now in its 23rd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation Kindergarten to Year 6.
