Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a great pleasure to be asked to perform relieving Principal duties at St Francis of Assisi over the last two weeks, whilst Mrs Davidson is attending the Religious Conference in Los Angeles. I have been warmly welcomed by staff, students, and parents, and from the moment I walked through the school gates, I could sense what a happy, safe school community you are.
Walking around the classrooms I have been impressed by the children’s eagerness to engage in their learning and the teachers’ dedication in planning and implementing quality educational experiences. The new refurbishments, including the painting of classrooms and stairwells, has given the school a fresh look and an environment that is conducive to learning and teaching. A highlight was the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Fundraiser, which was well supported by the students and made possible by the P & F helpers giving up their time to serve and cook the pancakes for the excited children. I was also fortunate to attend the whole school Ash Wednesday Mass, celebrated beautifully by Father Damien. The children’s reverence and participation in the Mass was most impressive.
Having been in our Diocese for well over forty years, including full-time Principal positions at two schools, I can certainly say that there is a positive culture at St Francis of Assisi and it is no surprise that the school is highly regarded throughout the community. I thank Mr Murphy for his support over the last fortnight as well as congratulating Mrs Davidson for her leadership of the school. I wish everyone well for the remainder of 2024.
Mr Danny Sykes
