Project Compassion
From our School Captains, Linda S & Levi B
Last week we went to the Project Compassion Launch at St Patrick’s in Rosemeadow and it was a fun day. Once we arrived at school Ms Maloney brought us to her car to get ready for the long trip to Rosemeadow. It took about 50 mins to get to our destination at Rosemeadow. They had a massive church right next door to their school. Everyone was very welcoming as soon as we arrived. Walking into the hall we saw many different schools and made many new friends. After seeing all the different schools take their photos we took ours with Ms Maloney then we sat down getting ready for the Project Compassion Mass. During the Mass, all schools went up to collect their Project Compassion donation box including us. Once we finished the mass we were invited to stay for lunch. There were various options including donuts, sandwiches, fruit and much more. Subsequently we ate, we said our goodbyes and headed back to school.
It was a great experience and we had fun. We have lots of ideas on how to raise more money for Project Compassion. Can’t wait to see where we go next.

School Value Focus - Respect
At St Francis of Assisi, we value respect because we honour the presence of God in those we meet, believing that everyone is created in the image and likeness of God.  Next week at our first Principal and Values Award Assembly, the value award will be for respect.

Sacramental Preparation
We Reconciliation1.jpgkeep in our prayers the children and families in our school and parish communities who are currently involved in the Reconciliation program.

Sr Grace - Requiescat in Pace
Many of the families in our school community would know of Sr Grace Cini, who devoted over 50 years of her religious life to the Parish of St Francis of Assisi, Warrawong, serving primarily as a classroom teacher and in catechist and pastoral care ministries.  Sr Grace passed away peacefully on the 10 February.  We send our condolences to her family and friends and the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus.  This Sunday, 25 February, the Parish will remember and pray for Sr Grace at the 10:30 am Mass. All are welcome to join us for morning tea in the hall following the Mass.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

Acknowledging our Catechists & School Staff

God_Bless_You.jpg

In our parish churches this weekend - Berkeley & Warrawong - catechists will be acknowledged & blessed. Whilst strictly speaking, our catechists are those who go into state schools to teach the Catholic faith during special RE lessons. However, in recognition of the significant role our school staff play in teaching the Catholic faith in our school community, Fr Damien has extended an invitation to all staff to come along to one of the parish Masses this weekend to also be acknowledged and blessed.
