Diocesan Sports Trials
Congratulations to Levi (Hockey) and Nicholas (Football - Soccer) in Year 6, who trialled in their respective sports for the Wollongong Diocesan team over the last week.
Well done to Nicholas, who out of 80 students trialling, made it to the final 20 for the possibles vs probables game. Unfortunately, he just missed out on selection in the Diocesan team, but a wonderful achievement to get that far.
Nicholas wrote the following reflection on his experience of the day:
On Monday 4 March, at the Unanderra Sports Centre, students in Years 5 and 6 from various schools in the Diocese attended the Wollongong Diocesan Soccer trials. Approximately 200 students had applied, but only 80 students were asked to trial on the day. We were put in teams, and selectors, including a player from Sydney FC, chose the 20 most skilled players. I felt very privileged to be one of the chosen top 20. We were then divided into 2 teams of 10, and the best 12 were chosen to represent Wollongong in the Diocesan team. This was a great experience, and it helped develop my skills.
