Learning Support Teacher 2024
This year I am working in the role of Learning Support Teacher. During Term 1 and the remainder of Term 2, I have been working with Stage 1 and Stage 2 classes. The focus has been on reading, writing, and spelling skills. I work with individuals and small groups of students to consolidate and extend their learning in these areas.
The reading program involves various reading strategies to improve fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. I use a range of texts to engage students and build their reading confidence.
The spelling program targets phonics-based and visual strategies to enhance spelling proficiency. I Incorporate the Sound Waves program with spelling games and activities to make learning enjoyable.
The writing program follows what the students are learning in the classroom. students have the opportunity to work in small groups to consolidate and extend their writing skills, focusing on grammar, structure, and creativity.
I also have a special interest in fitness and have started a lunchtime interest group for boxing. The program includes a positive and inclusive environment where students can learn the basics of boxing, and understand the importance of physical activity and how it regulates their body. Students can box at lunchtime on Tuesday in even weeks and Thursday in odd weeks.
