Aboriginal Education Assistant
St Francis of Assisi is very fortunate to have the support of Uncle Kevin Butler in his role as Aboriginal Education Assistant this year. Uncle Kevin an award-winning artist whose murals can be found in many schools in the area, see some works below. His artworks are his legacy for future generations and constitute his personal step towards reconciliation. Uncle Kevin is working on a special piece of artwork for St Francis of Assisi while supporting our students with Aboriginal Education.
The students have been enjoying having Uncle Kev at school and have already found one of the hidden images that he incorporates in his artwork. Uncle Kev has been able to provide valuable insight into the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander's culture and heritage through sharing his artwork and his willingness to share a yarn. The children have learned to weave and some gave these as a gift on Mother's Day.
