Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Scripture Reflection: Mark 5:21-43
In last weekend’s Gospel reading, we witnessed Jesus perform two remarkable miracles: healing a woman suffering from chronic bleeding and raising Jairus' daughter from the dead. Both miracles profoundly highlight the power of faith. The woman believed that merely touching the tassels of Jesus' cloak would heal her, and her faith was rewarded. Similarly, Jairus trusted Jesus even after hearing the devastating news of his daughter's death. Jesus' words to Jairus' daughter, "Talitha koum" ("Little girl, I say to you, get up!"), remind us of His incredible power to bring new life.

As Catholic educators and parents, these stories inspire us to trust in God's plan, nurture faith in our children, and show empathy and care in our daily interactions. Jesus' compassion teaches us to be present and attentive to the needs of others. By embodying these values, we create a school community that reflects Christ’s healing presence. Together, let us encourage our children to live out their faith boldly, trusting in God's unwavering love and support.

Thank you to our families for your continued support and involvement in the life of our school. It has been another tremendously rewarding term at St Francis of Assisi with much achieved and celebrated. Congratulations to the students for their demonstrated commitment towards the achievement of their personal learning goals and efforts in being respectful, responsible and safe. Thank you also to our incredible staff for their enthusiasm and passion for providing a safe and supportive learning environment.  Thank you to our part-time and casual staff who have supported the school this term. At times it has been a challenge with the high levels of sickness amongst staff and students.

NAIDOC Week 2024 will be held nationally from Sunday 7 -14 July 2024. These dates fall during the school holidays. The theme for NAIDOC Week is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud. The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Thank you for all your support this term.
I wish you all a safe and restful school holiday break.
Please remember the families of our school community who need our special prayers.

Mrs Vicky Davidson
