Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day as it was originally called. Remembrance Day marks the day World War 1 ended in 1918. Last Monday, 11th November was an opportunity to remember all those who have died in wars and conflicts since then. The tradition of stopping at 11 am started on the very first anniversary of Armistice Day in 1919 and has continued for over 100 years. As we paused today to commemorate Remembrance Day, we prayed that we will be committed to being instruments of peace in our world by recognising that peace begins in our own families, classrooms, schools, and communities, and it begins with us. Each one of us can make a peaceful world. Students and staff gathered as a whole school community at 11 am, where they participated respectfully in a service including the Prayer of St Francis, the Ode of Remembrance, and the Australian National Anthem. Thanks to Ms Maloney and our school leaders for leading this service for us today.
