Assistant Principal

    Thank you
To all of the parents, carers, families and students, I want to say thank you for all of your support this year. We have had some great times, and some challenging times, however at the end of the year I am proud to say that we have positively worked together in partnership to see amazing growth in student faith, learning and wellbeing.
As we move into 2025, I am sure that we can continue to work in positive partnership to support the needs of your child/ren. As always, please get in contact if there is anything we can do to support you, your child/ren or your family.
Wishing everyone a happy, safe and peaceful Christmas, New Year and vacation period. See you in 2025!

    Class Promotions 2025
On Monday 16 December, students had the chance to meet their teachers for 2025. This is a great opportunity to get to know their teacher, their classroom, and prepare for a smooth beginning to 2025. If your child has any concerns about next year, or you would like to discuss their transition, please let me know and I will be happy to speak with you.

    Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS)
In alignment with the Lighting the Way strategy focus area Belonging in a Connected Community, the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) is pleased to share that from 2025 they will fully support and cover the cost of Translating and Interpreting Services (T.I.S. National). This initiative ensures that, as a system and a school, we are ‘supporting relationships with regular and meaningful communication,’ fostering greater connection with our school community, including those from linguistically diverse backgrounds, to better support parent engagement and partnership.
This service can and will be used to support parent meetings, enrolment interviews, and any communications requiring translation or interpretation. If you require these services, please speak to your child's teacher.

We continue to focus on being respectful, responsible, and safe through weekly focuses which promote positive behaviours.  Thank you to the students for engaging with these focus areas and doing their best to ensure they are displaying positive behaviours in the classroom and playground. We aim to see every student improve in their behaviour choices so they can be the best person they can be.  A small action or change every day can make a big difference in the long run.
Our focus areas for the last week have been:

PB4L focus - Being Responsible - It’s coming to the end of the year and we are cleaning up around our school. Taking care of our school classroom means being proud of how we use and look after it. As we move towards the last 2 weeks of the year, we are tidying up our classroom responsibly and being prepared to begin 2025.

SEL focus - Gratitude - As the school year comes to an end, it’s a great time to think about what we're grateful for. Maybe we're thankful for new friends exciting things we’ve learned, or fun experiences we’ve had. Take a moment to reflect on all the things that made this year special. Being grateful helps us appreciate the good things in our lives and brings a smile to our faces. What are you most thankful for this year?

    Holiday Reading

    Kids_Reading.jpg

Over the holiday break all students, are encouraged to read every day. Reading is a very important and necessary skill that we use every day. It is a skill that we use when reading books and magazines, watching TV, shopping, and playing games. When children stop reading for extended periods of time they often take a few steps backwards. This will help maintain student reading abilities and continue to foster their love of reading over the Christmas holidays.

By reading every day, your child will be practising this important skill, reinforcing good reading habits. Parents and carers are encouraged to help their children find fun and interesting books, fiction and non-fiction.  It is important for your child to read aloud to someone and just as important for them to listen and enjoy stories being read to them.

We all know that reading is one of the most important fundamental skills children must master to succeed, almost everything we do involves reading of some form. Hopefully, this will help motivate your child to continue reading on a regular basis during the holiday break.

    SORA
Just in time for the holidays, we have many new eBooks and Audiobooks for you to enjoy. The Sora support site is found at this link.

    Enjoying time with your child
With the holidays approaching families are going to have more time to spend together. The Raising Children Network has some great links to the benefits of spending time together with your children. Special time with your child can happen while you're doing everyday activities like folding the laundry or watering the garden or making time to go for walks or playing board games. Just sharing happy experiences helps to build a relationship with your child.
