Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Have you ever done something wrong that you regret? Last Sunday’s Gospel, from Luke 16:1-13, challenges us to reflect deeply on the choices we make and where we place our trust. Jesus tells the Parable of the Unjust Steward, a story that can seem puzzling at first glance. In it, the steward is commended, not for his dishonesty, but for his resourcefulness and the way he acts decisively when faced with a difficult situation. Jesus concludes with the powerful reminder: “You cannot serve both God and wealth.”

This Gospel invites us to consider what it means to live lives of integrity, stewardship, and faithfulness, even in the small, everyday actions. In our busy world, it can be easy to prioritise material success or convenience over the deeper values that bring us closer to God: kindness, honesty, generosity, and service to others.

At St Francis of Assisi, we strive to instil in our students the importance of being faithful in the “little things,” as Jesus reminds us: “Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much.” This could mean completing a small task to the best of one’s ability, acting with honesty in challenging moments, or showing compassion to a friend in need. When we practise these virtues in the small decisions of daily life, we build the foundation for a life of faith and service.

As we come to the end of Term 3, I want to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, and families for all they have contributed to making this term a success. Our students have worked diligently in their learning and have shown wonderful growth.

To our dedicated staff, your unwavering commitment to educating and supporting our students is truly a blessing. You have gone above and beyond to nurture the faith, learning, and wellbeing of every student in your care.

And to our families, thank you for the partnership and encouragement you provide in helping us guide your children on their faith and learning journey. Your support is an essential part of what makes our school community so special.

As we prepare for the upcoming break, may it be a time of rest, renewal, and connection with loved ones. I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the blessings of this term.

Wishing you a restful break and a joyful time with family and friends.

Students return to school on Tuesday 14 October 2024.
