Year 3 & 4 Science Learning
“Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a paper plane!” You may have noticed our Year 3 and 4 students sketching, folding and testing their paper planes. These students are vying for a chance to enter the World’s Biggest Paper Plane Competition for Schools.
As part of their Science and Technology and STEM unit, they have been busy researching and testing their paper planes to see if they can travel over a specific time or distance enabling them to qualify for this competition.
The research itself has started with looking at aerodynamics and then practically experimenting with all the aspects of aerodynamics in paper form; such as drag, thrust, etc.
Each week students are bringing the aspects of engineering to the science classroom through design, make, test and then modifying their designs to achieve the end goal...
Good luck Year 3 and 4!
