First Communion
Those students making their First Communion this year are currently working through the First Communion program with their parents. This program is aligned with the Year 3 unit on the Eucharist that the students are completing in class. First Communion will be celebrated on Saturday 28 November with two Masses at 9.00 am, and 10.30 am. Please keep the students, parents and teachers in your prayers during this preparation time.
Remembrance Day
Last Wednesday 11 November we gathered to remember all those who fought to keep our country safe. November 11 marked the end of World War 1 over a hundred years ago. Although it was a long time ago, it was an opportunity to remember all those who have died in wars and conflicts since then. During our Remembrance Day prayer, we reflected and valued the freedoms that we enjoy today, and made a commitment to continue to create peace in our world by recognising that peace begins in our own families, classrooms, schools and communities, and with us. Each one of us can make a peaceful world.
The flag was lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect. A wreath of rosemary was placed at the base of the flagpole and poppies made by the students were placed in the garden. The Flanders poppy was one of the first plants to grow on the blood-soaked battlefields of France and Belgium. Finally, the flag was raised as the National Anthem was played.

Mission Liturgy and Crazy Sock Day
On Friday 6 November each stage celebrated a Liturgy for Mission Month in the hall. This year Children’s Mission is focusing on Cambodia, especially the disabled children. The prayers and video provided a very powerful message to the students about helping those in need. As a fundraiser staff and students wore crazy socks and for this fun activity they donated a gold coin. We raised over $200 for Children’s Mission. Thank you for your contributions.

Thanksgiving Mass for the Friars
This Sunday Bishop Brian will celebrate Mass at 10 am, during this Mass we farewell the Friars from the diocese after 65 years of dedicated ministry and leadership. This Mass is by invitation only due to COVID-19 restrictions. Fr Martin will be here until early next year when we will have a Diocesan Priest replace the friars. We welcome Fr Damien Ellis, who is currently in the role of Australian Army Chaplain. We are very grateful for all the work the Franciscans have done in our parish. Please keep all members of the Franciscan Order in your prayers.
